Ghibli screening at National Library - Another one [15 Jun 2010|04:56pm]

kesaproject
Hey everyone.
I don't know how many of you guys turned up last time, but it appears that the Ghibli screening at the National Library was a huge success, and the Japanese Embassy have organised a second set of screenings. More information here. To summarise, they're showing two movies on Saturday the 26th of June (Porco Rosso and Ponyo, at 1pm and 3pm) and another two on Saturday the 3rd of July (Spirited Away and My Neighbour Totoro, at 12:30 and 3). All movies are in Japanese, with subtitles. Anyone interested?

Cleaning up the house [25 Mar 2010|08:04pm]

zettairyouiki
So I'm moving to Japan (ironically) and I have a LOT to get rid of in terms of doujinshi! I've bought a LOT as a student over there and since its at my home, I decided I have no space. I have less than a month to get rid of this stuff so please please please take it off my hands.

I've set my prices including postage, and fandoms include:
  • Gintama
  • Bleach
  • Code Geass
  • Oofuri
  • Persona
  • Tales of (Destiny, Abyss & Vesperia)
  • Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro
  • Original Artists
I'll be adding a lot more whenever I can so be sure to check back! The account may look new but I have a personal account at itako if you want to make sure. I've sold things before but I have to stress that prices are non neg. outside of the $2 discount for Oz buyers.

Ghibli screening at National Library - Also, hello ^-^ [08 Feb 2010|06:51pm]

kesaproject
[ mood | hungry ]

Hey everyone, I don't know how active this community is but I thought I'd put this out anyway. By the way, Hey, I'm Kesa [not my real name :P]. I'm sixteen and a big anime fan. Nice to meet everyone :)

Anyway, the Japanese Embassy is apparently doing a screening of a few Studio Ghibli movies at the end of the month, at the National Library of Australia. More information here. In summary, they're showing Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind on Thursday February 25 at 6:30, Kiki's Delivery Service on Friday the 26th at 6:30, and Howl's Moving Castle on Saturday 27th at 2:30. All films are in Japanese with English subtitles.

Personally, I'm planning to go along to the first two, but I'll be at the Canberra Show during the Howl's screening (if all goes the way I plan). Anyone else out there interested?

Oh, by the way - It's all free entry, no bookings required.

Chibi AU 2009!?!? [27 Feb 2009|01:33pm]

sweetdeily
Hey all, I'll be posting this message around the internet world for
the next few days, so please bare with us if you've already seen this:

This year a few of the exec will be endeavoring to make chibi.au 2009
not just a little glimmer of hope in your dreams of chocolate and
sweet promises- but a reality!

These highly developmental plans are looking at early October for a
date (sat 3rd or 10th).

We're looking for volunteers to help out in this one-day event;
currently we have two exec prepared to be committed to this task, but
we need more people for the event to run at all! So if you'd like to
volunteer, please send an email to sweetdeily@gmail.com or give me a
call on 0434986427 any time of the day (or night)

Thanks guys!

Fansubs? [22 Jun 2006|10:32am]

tgreywords
Hello everyone,

I was wondering if there's anyone out there who would be willing to share fansubs with a poor girl stuck on a dialup connection! :)

I'm specifically looking for Jyu-oh-sei, Kiba, Keras, and Ergo Proxy at the moment, but would glady be open to anything else people wish to share. I'd be willing to pay for any cds/dvds one uses to copy things for me as well as reimburse for postage if we do it that way, plus perhaps a bit extra for your time.

Thanks. :)

FREE Anime Screening in Garema Place [04 Apr 2006|10:54pm]

dandysora
Hello, all :]

My name is Aj and I bring here news of an anime event running this Friday, in Garema Place (Civic), for people who haven't yet heard. It's already been mentioned once in this here community, but I thought I'd verify some details.

Volunteers from the ANU Anime Society are running a free screening of Japanese animation in the heart of Canberra's CBD - Garema Place.

The screening will take place on Garema Place's prominently positioned glass fibre cinema screen. Not only is this screen very well placed, it is also an architectural beauty: it won the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) Art and Architecture Award in 2000 as well as the NAWIC Achievement in Design Award in 2001.

The screening will commence on Friday, April 7th, from 6pm to 10pm. The screening will focus on first episodes as well as short films from a number of recently released Japanese animation titles so that people can come to the screening at virtually any time and enjoy themselves. There will also be DVD, poster and merchandise giveaways on site.

For more information, please visit http://www.animeau.org

(x-posted around the place)

I'm compiling a list of Aussie artists. If you have a website, deviantart account (or the like) etc please give me the url so I can start the list. Also if you have any links to other Australian artists it would be much appreciated ^_^

I'm also trying to get a list of good anime and manga related livejournal communities if anyone can point me towards some it would be lovely...

Also, is anyone else dying for Howl's Moving Castle?

And...Ghibli Soundtracks if anyone is interested.
